In today s world, there is a growing interest in graduate employment and how to enhance graduates employability. It is widely accepted that tertiary education is an important instrument of economic competitiveness in a global economy that is knowledge driven. People vary in the amount skills and knowledge they have available to spend in the work place and education is an important predictor of occupational success. Using the more recent career paradigm of the boundaryless career, this book therefore provides a view on the influence of aspects of the learning experience on the boundaryless career success of young applied science graduates. Concepts derived from Eby et al. (2003) and Vermeulen and Schmidt (2008) are used to analyze graduates between the ages of 20-29. This analysis helps to create more insight in the early career success of the workforce and is particularly interesting for professionals in Education and Human Resource Management fields, or anyone else who may be considering utilizing the learning experience of students for career enhancing efforts.
As oil and gas production facilities(FPS, FPSO, Platforms) in remote offshore locations do not have storage facilities on board for gases, the challenges of finding alternative uses for these gases, termed stranded gases increased. Some of the gas monetization options explored by oil and gas operators to eliminate flaring, which removes possibility of generating any revenue and negative consequences of green house gas generation include, export by pipeline, gas to wire(GTW), liquefaction(LNG), gas to liquid(GTL), compressed gas (CNG)and gas hydrates (GH). This book, an in-depth study carried out by the author, is geared towards proposing suitable cost effective gas utilization options, considering technical and economic viability, with the aim of generating revenue from the stranded gas produced from remote offshore fields. This book will serve as reference material for young graduates and professionals in the oil and gas industry, or anyone else who may be considering working in oil and gas engineering design, operation and construction.
Using inductive qualitative research methods this work explores how young Vietnamese university graduates experience their work in the context of intercultural work environments characteristic of International Non-Government Organisations which have been established as a central aspect of globalisation in post DoiMoi Vietnam. The work engages with the literature on graduate attributes and extend the prevailing research agenda by drawing on theoretical perspectives on intercultural competent and agency as found in the work of scholars such as Bochner and Bourdieu. Data were obtained from indepth interviews, conducted in two phases, with 19 young graduates working in INGOs in Vietnam, 8 INGO senior managers and 8 University teachers. The analysis should help shed some light on how young graduates become strategic and intercultural competent in this new world of work, and should be especially useful to professionals in work skill fields, or anyone else who may be considering tuning university education to graduates' employability. This book, therefore, suggests that providing greater opportunity for students to participate in open, intercultural contexts of learning is essential.
